A horse of another color

My summer has been so depressing fashionwise. I have a full-time job babysitting, and even the most impassioned fashionista would have trouble rationalizing a well-conceived outfit to cart two preschoolers around to parks, swimming lessons and gymnastics all day. Still, I did manage to sneak off to the horse races with friends on Sunday in this.

Beret: shop in San Francisco
Shades: Forever21
Blazer: thrifted
Brooch on blazer: Forever21
Striped tee: Gap
Belt: thrifted
Skirt: thrifted
Platforms: Steve Madden
Vintage frame bag: Antique store

I am a bit obsessed with the shoes. I bought them on sale at Steve Madden. I was a bit on the fence about them until I realized that the black leather combined with the brown heel means that I can comfortably pair them with both black and brown.

They initially caught my eye because they seem to channel these Chloe lovelies, which I adore.

Great outfit - I contemplated those shoes too, but they look like they might rub a bit at the back of the ankle. How are they, comfort-wise? Thanks!

Those shoes are to die for - such a great find! I'm getting a little bit jealous!

And you're right: fashion and kids are not the best combination!

;)

no hose with that outfit???

You look great, I Love those shoes! I still haven't been to a horse race. I always thought it sounded fun, and I could wear a big huge hat and not get quite as many looks!

those shoes are beautiful! i love how the blazer and skirt look together

Those Chloe shoes are beautiful, but what i truly covet is your bag. Diviiiiiiine.

Great shoes!

Cute outfit, the shoes are so grand! I feel your pain on dressing for your job. Whenever I did babysit outfits were focused on things I didn't mind getting dirty and I could crawl around in! Still, it must be fun playing/watching children all day.

I'm so impressed: Do you ever go out without a beret? And how many do you own? Love, Dotti.

I love the shoes! Usually I'm not a big fan of black and brown together but it looks really good. Great outfit!

Natasha said...

Thanks girls!

glamaruth, they are actually surprisingly comfortable. the leather is thick enough that it doesn't cut, and the support all the way above the ankle helps too. I did get a bit of a blister the second day wearing them, but it was so hot out that I think it was because of the sweat.

dotti, indeed I do own many berets. :) I probably have at least 10...they are great for bad hair days, of which I have many.

Those shoes are really nice. That outfit is great, also! I love the little red heart pin, it just gives a little burst of colour!

Personally, I like the Steve Maddens more than the Chloes. Great shoes.

I'm glad you were able to comment! My site does seem to be running very slow lately on my computer as well, I'm lessening the posts per page and hopefully that will help!

Haha! Now you understand my fashion conundrum! My closet is full of jeans and basic tops and sneakers. Love those shoes, but not good for chasing kids :)

Oh you look tres chic as always! I love those shoes too!
I'm also envious of your ability to wear layers in the summer- we melt here in the ATL in tanks and shorts (and where's the fashion inspiration in that?)

While it isn't easy, (I know I have two of my own) finding yourself in killer fashion with kids can be done. Excellent work here.

Too cute! Especially love the mustard-colored pencil skirt and the fab vintage bag.

And I am obliged to say that I'm wearing my John Fluevog Haight sandals in black today, and they could be twins to your Maddens, minus the patent shine. I completely understand your obsession: Massive heel + platform to balance it = fantastically wearable shoe.
